In September 2007 we added a programme of learning that would help our children to develop their basic skills and life skills. We called this programme the Kingsholm University.
At first we held a mass consultation process with all of the children in the school to think about the sorts of activities that could be run as modules.
Since that pilot scheme the University is now a fixed part of our childen's and adults' learning within our curriculum. In September 2008 we started running the Kingsholm College initially for our Foundation Stage and Year 1 children. This runs at the same time as the University with modules in Gardening, Cooking, Art and Craft, Sewing and Spanish. The Year 1 children then graduate to the full University in the Summer Term.
The University runs on a Friday morning from 9 - 10.40. Since its inception we have run modules on the likes of;
Jive Dancing, Sewing, Spanish, Kingsholm Kidz Radio Station, Team Games, Recorders, Story Writing, Puppeteering, Cookery, School Newspaper, African Drumming, Professional Photography, Hairdressing, Archaeology, Bowls, Knitting, Crochet, Tag Rugby, Football, Giant Art, Decoupage, Form a Band, Singer/Songwriting, Poetry, Martial Arts, Painting skills, Modern Dance, Badminton, Trumpet, Patchwork, ICT Animation, Make your own Olympics, Outdoor Makeovers, German, Chess, Cheerleading, Stage Management, Team Building, Happiversity and French (WOW!!)
We are very grateful to the community partners who work with us on the University. For more details please click on the Community Development tab.

At the end of the modules the children then have a graduation assembly where they receive awards based on their learning and share their learning with the rest of the school.
The University has been funded by Awards For All, the goodwill of community partners and the School Budget
